This project is for the August themed hyper coaster competition at rct2.com

The Hammer of God, an Intamin hyper coaster in Xcoaster's upcoming, under construction, Arthur C. Clarke themed, sci-fi park, Xcoaster International's: Eon Odysseys.

This is a coaster that will be in the aforementioned park when it's finished and released. What I did was I built the coaster in my park once the competition started and then once I finished the coaster I took the park back to the scenario editor, took out all the theming and ride items not needed for this coaster, shrunk the map as much as I could, and rebuilt all coaster and ride theming. So basically, this is like a preview for my park, as you get to see one coaster in the Tycho Moonbase section, while I hid everything else from you by making another version of the park with only this coaster and it's theming in it.

The park is themed to the writing of science fiction author, Arthur C. Clarke. Taken from the original info release:
A Hugo and Nebula award winner, as well as the writer of the novels 2001: A Space Odyssey and 2010: Odyssey Two, he has also shared an Academy Award nomination with Stanley Kubrick for the film version of 2001: A Space Odyssey, and he is credited with the first proposal of using orbiting satellites for communication purposes. This park takes visitors from the nostalgic Worlds Fair all the way to the moon of Earth and even billions of years into the future and several millennia into the past.
Essentially, it's themed to the science fiction stories he has wrote.

*I'd post a link for the topic at rct2.com, but it's down right now. But a topic is there.

This coaster is based on his short story and novel of the same name, "The Hammer of God". It's the story that inspired the movie "Deep Impact", so you could just take that as to what it's themed to, sort of. But the actual story of "The Hammer of God" is a lot different than that movie, so I'll explain it to you so that it makes sense in connection with this coaster:

SPACEWATCH, an organization that searches the skies for meteors and comets that could collide with Earth (also from Rendezvous with Rama), finds a meteor on an impact course with Earth and it's named Kali, after the Hindu god of death and rebirth, a helper of Shiva. The spaceship Goliath meets up with the meteor, plants a radio beacon on it to calculate the exact time of impact, then once that is determined it begins Project ATLAS. Project ATLAS is an attempt to mount some fusion thrusters onto Kali so that it can very slowly be nudged out of the collision course. However, a problem arises where a single geyser of gas, nicknamed Stromboli, starts coming out of the meteor as it nears the sun, and this negates some of what Goliath is doing to push the meteor.

That's the basic story.

Now I'll explain what some of the things around the coaster are supposed to be in relation to the story:
*The coasters station is supposed to be the SPACEWATCH station on the moon (since the coaster is in the park's moonbase section)
*The grey sandy parts of the map are generally the moonbase section and as the coaster goes along it leaves that area and goes into the rocky part which is supposed to be the meteor.
*The thing next to the first big drop is supposed to the be the radar beacon being drilled into the asteroid. Nearby that is the Space Glider, which can carry a couple people around on the meteor.
*The things with the flames are supposed to the the thrusters for Project ATLAS and the other things around there are supposed to be hydrogen fuel tanks for it.
*The ice section is supposed to be the Stromboli geyser.
*Why no trees? Most of the coaster is supposed to be on a meteor, and the station and a lot of that area of the park is on the moon. Trees don't grow in a vacuum. However, maybe I'll later have some trees growing inside a dome on the moon or something. There can be plants inside the moonbase. In fact, I should've had a few inside of SPACEWATCH. Put that on my list of mistakes.
*Why is the ground on the meteor almost all black rock and black path? The meteor was described as being mostly carbon and thus very black, like a big chunk of coal set on destroying all of humanity. That's why. Oh, and the moon area is mostly grey dirt and craters, cause that's moon-like.

Some mistakes I made or things that will be fixed when the actual park is released:
*There were supposed to be astronaut entertainers around Project ATLAS and the Space Glider, but when I went into the scenario editor I took out the Space theming tab, and now I can't get astronaut entertainers for my contest entry.
*The white building that connects SPACEGUARD to the rest of the moonbase is temporary and is just there so that I don't have an opening in that bridge. It's ugly and boring, I know.
*In the actual park there will be many more buildings in the moonbase section and I plan on making more vehicles. Also, I'd like to have Goliath, or at least part of it on the meteor.
*The area as a whole will be better.
*Colors are subject to change.
*The excitement of "The Hammer of God" in the park version is 11.22, while the one in the contest entry is around 10.92.
*I hope releasing this won't disqualify me from the Vacation Park once I finish this park. :-|
*The moon area still doesn't look that moon-like.

Some cool things I did that people might not notice:
*The radar dishes
*The inside of the coaster's station has a holographic display thing that shows the meteor (you can see that through the glass), a message screen, and some cool paths that are made with the invisible paths and some base blocks.
*Underneath the station is an indoor part of the coaster that is supposed to be a simulation of Goliath's encounter with the meteor. If you were to destroy some of the station you could see that, but you can get a good idea of the indoor coaster part by just using the invisible scenery toggle. I used cbass's space pieces, some star walls that were in the UCES, rocky landscaping to represent the meteor, and some other base block pieces for the meteor to make the indoor section of the coaster.
*The interior of the Project ATLAS control center has some cool stuff.
*The catwalks on the Project ATLAS fuel tanks. I tried to make those fuel tanks look like an oil rig, since that's how it was described in the book.
*The Space Glider
*I used a lot of invisible paths.
*Don't you hate indoor theming? No one will ever notice it.

Anyways, that's all.
